So this is happening...

Despite the air quotes around the word "Accepted", it's true: I'm running the 2013 ING New York City Marathon.

Also true? I'm paying $216 to do so.

Guilt trip time!  The least YOU could do is donate to one of the two charities I'll be running for - or both charities if you're feeling extra generous!  I'm proud to say I'm a member of the Athletes to End Alzheimer's team here in NYC, and I'm also a satellite member of Emslie's Fight, a team mostly based in South Carolina raising money for the PKD Foundation.  Soon, I'll be sharing more information on my connection to both of these causes as well as instructions on how to donate.  ("Soon" meaning "when I get my donation websites set up.")

In addition to raising awareness for both charities, the purpose of this blog will be to share the ups, downs, and sidewayses of my training.  I've run six half-marathons (soon to be seven) but I know training for and running the full 26.2 will be quite a different challenge.  And I'm ready to meet it head-on.

Ready to run with me?  Let's go!
